July 21, 2008--CFS is pleased to announce our second Distinguished Speakers Series event featuring Dr. Thomas Grisso, Professor of Psychiatry, Director of Psychology, and Director of the Law-Psychiatry Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Grisso will present at our Fresno campus November 6 and at our Los Angeles campus on November 7, 2008. CFS Fresno Program Director Bill Holcomb, PhD comments, "Thomas Grisso is probably the most well known and well respected living forensic psychologist and his work has influenced major legislation and the law, including major Supreme Court decisions and the recent revision of juvenile competency law in California." The event is free and open to current and prospective CFS students and Alliant faculty, students, and staff.
July 3, 2008--Join us! The Institute of Violence Abuse and Trauma is hosting its 13th annual international conference September 12-17th in San Diego at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center.
June 27, 2008- Incoming Fresno student Staff Sergeant William D. Kammerer is named 2008 Airman of the Year by the California National Guard. Staff Sergeant Kammerer is a satellite, wideband and telemetry systems journeyman. He volunteered for duty in Iraq and was selected three times for airborne missions--and was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal.

May 27, 2008- The International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services announces its concurrent sessions schedule for their 8th Annual Conference. The IAFMHS has accepted six papers from CFS students for presnetation at their next conference in Vienna, Austria. The students are: Shiloh Cantanese, M.A., Samantha James, M.A., Rose Jung, M.A., Anna Belisa Kafka, M.A., Natalie Lindemann, M.A., Avetis Topchyan, M.A., Hilary Tryttan, M.A., and Sammie Williams, Psy.D. CFS faculty members Drs. Robert A. Leark, Sherry Skidmore and Bill Holcomb are co-presenters.
May 12, 2008--Ocean 98.1FM in Ocean City, Maryland hosts Dr. Eric Hickey for a discussion on keeping your family safe from predators at the beach this summer.
May 12, 2008--The Association of Threat Assessment Professionals accepted a presentation from San Diego faculty member Glenn Lipson, Ph.D. on violence risk assessment in the family law arena. Dr. Lipson will present with Commander Wayne Maxey of the San Diego District Attorney's office and Charlie Kim, J.D.
May 9, 2008--The California Association of Hostage Negotiators has invited Fresno faculty Dr. Jana Price-Sharps to speak on negotiating with methanphetamine addicts, and later on negotiating with people with mental illness.
May 8, 2008--CFS Director Dr. Eric Hickey will discuss predators with MANCOW on his morning radio show on Thursday May 15 at 7:35am central time.
May 7, 2008--CJAD-AM Montreal and CFRB-AM Toronto radio host Peter Anthony Holder interviews Dr. Eric Hickey on forensic psychology, criminal profiling, and serial killers.
